Survivor Series Predictions
It’s that time
of year again where Survivor series rolls around and there is a lot of
anticipation surrounding the event. The battle for brand supremacy is back, as
the Raw and Smackdown LIVE teams go head to head to determine the winner
between Monday and Tuesday nights. We have a second Intercontinental title
match in a matter of days and the Cruiserweight division hanging in the balance.
There is also the small matter of Goldberg’s in ring return as he faces off against
the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar, in a Wrestlemania 20 rematch.
The event will
also mark the first time Survivor Series has been held in Canada since 1997,
where the infamous Montreal Screwjob took place.
Without further
ado here are my predictions for Survivor Series
Match 1- Brian Kendrick (c) vs Kalisto-
Cruiserweight Championship
The newly resurrected
Cruiserweight division has been a bit underwhelming since making its jump to
the main roster. TJ Perkins was the right man to hold the new title, as he has
paid his dues wrestling all over the world most notably as Suicide in TNA. I personally
don’t think the video game character has done wonders for him though. To the
match in hand, this match was made by RAW GM Mick Foley who was willing to put
the whole division on the line for the sake of supremacy. I think in the long
run, the cruiserweights need to be on Smackdown. It seems like the thing
Smackdown was made for and since the show is seen as the “Wrestling show” the
Cruiserweights will be better off on the blue brand.
Winner- Kalisto
Match 2- The MIZ (c) vs Sami Zayn –
Intercontinental Championship
Sami Zayn is
caught in a cross roads I feel at the minute, there are no real feuds for him
currently on RAW and if Ziggler had kept hold of the title, I would have liked
to see Zayn win it and transfer on to Smackdown. On Tuesday we saw The MIZ win
back the title (through shenanigans) so to have the title change hands again so
soon would be ridiculous. The Miz has to win for me, whilst on Smackdown he has
made the title respectable once again and has brought some much needed prestige
to the belt. In doing so, he is currently in the midst of producing some his
best work in his WWE career. I expect the usual Miz title defence, expect
Maryse or even maybe the Spirit Squad to intervene and eventually The Miz hits
Skull Crushing Finale to win. Hopefully after this, Miz keeps the title until
Wrestlemania season, having already helped elevate the title in the process.
Winner - The Miz
Match 3- The Traditional Survivor Series
match- Tag Teams
There are many
reasons why there are 3 traditional Survivor Series matches. One of the main
reasons, is so there is an outright winner between the brands and so they can
use all the talent available. It’s natural to assume, that both brands will get
one over one another before the main traditional match. The tag match has the
potential (if done right) to be a very good match but knowing WWE it will be a
mess at times and will probably be used as the toilet break match. In regards
to the match, I think Raw will win it. If you look at the Raw team, the only
weakness is the Shining Stars and collectively they have more star power to
beat the SD Live teams. However, in this match although I said Raw will win it,
the stand out team will come from Smackdown Live and that is American Alpha. I
think this is the match where American Alpha really announce themselves on the
main stage, so I am going to say that American Alpha go through a process of
eliminating a couple of tag teams on their own until it’s them and The New Day
left but eventually New Day will win and continue to be the most over team in
the WWE right now.
Winner - Raw
Match 4- The Women’s Survivor Series
Match
Now as I said
earlier, each brand will get a win over one another to set the last match
traditional match up as the match that settles it. Both teams fought one
another on SD LIVE, when the Raw Women invaded in the middle of a match between
Nikki Bella and Carmella and eventually the SD Live team got the better of them
and I think that will happen come Sunday. The Women on Raw have been getting a
lot of the spotlight recently, especially with Charlotte and Sasha main eventing
Raw and headlining the Raw exclusive PPV Hell in a Cell. This was historic for
the world of women’s wrestling but it was the Raw women not the Smackdown women
who made it. On paper, Raw look stronger
with Charlotte, Bayley and Sasha but I think it will boil down to champion vs
champion. Becky will lock in the Disarmer and make Charlotte submit. However
afterwards Charlotte will claim her team and not her that had lost, so
therefore she will maintain that her PPV record will stay intact.
Winner- SD Live Womens
Winner- SD Live Womens
Match 5- Mens Traditional Survivor
Series Match
Before this
week, I had my money on Smackdown to win this one due to Owens and Jericho
eventually having their break up but after Tuesday I am not so sure. The
Undertaker made his return on the 900th episode of Smackdown and
told the WWE Universe in no certain terms that he was back for one last run. The
Deadman also claimed that there will be severe consequences if SD Live do not
beat Raw. During the match you will see many things, The Shield alone in the
ring all at the same time before Reigns and Rollins gang up on Ambrose. Braun
Strowman will be booked strong as recently the WWE officials have started to
give him a push on Raw and to be fair he is getting better slowly mind you. He and
Bray will have a standoff at one point, which would be good to see. The final
two I think will end up being AJ Styles and I would like to see them go 10-15
minutes until inevitably Rollins will get the pinfall. Now I don’t know whether
The Undertaker will make an appearance but if things play out as I said, expect
Taker to target AJ Styles.
Winner- Team RAW
Match 6- Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar
This match is intriguing,
Brock Lesnar has been booked like an absolute beast ever since the ending of
the streak. He mauled John Cena at Summerslam 14, beat The Undertaker at Hell
in a Cell, and beat Ambrose at Wrestlemania, the list goes on. His advocate
Paul Heyman, promotes Brock as an unbeatable beast but Lesnar now faces a man
who he has never beaten and in fact has one victory over him, Goldberg.
Goldberg faced Brock at Wrestlemania 20 in a match that was booed out of
Madison Square Garden. Both men left the company and then Goldberg returned as
part of the WWE 2K17 video game earlier this year and coincidentally Lesnar was
on the cover. On October 3, Goldberg
appeared on ESPN's SportsCenter with Jonathan Coachman to promote his appearance in WWE 2K17. He teased a possible return to WWE, and stated
that he would want to face Lesnar if he were to return because he owed Lesnar a
rematch. On the October 10 episode of Raw, Paul
Heyman on behalf of Lesnar issued a challenge to Goldberg,
stating that Goldberg was the one blemish on Lesnar's WWE career. On October 17, Goldberg accepted the
challenge. This past RAW, we were teased to what we could see on Sunday,
as Heyman used Goldberg’s wife and kids saying Goldberg’s son is going to call
Brock “Daddy”.
Now who do you put over? On
one side, you can’t see someone like Goldberg comeback just to lose to someone
like Lesnar, especially since it took 12 years for Bill and the company to
rekindle their business relationship. Then again, you can’t see Lesnar lose to
a guy who has already beaten him because that will take away his whole mystique
of the unbeatable beast.
I am going to stick my neck
out and say that Lesnar goes over because I have a funny feeling in my head
that WWE could get another match out of the pair or I may be wrong. Having both
of them get a win over one another will set up a potential rubber match between
the two. To have Goldberg win at Survivor Series and just end it there will be
a bit of a disappointment end I feel.
Winner- Brock Lesnar
