Peterborough United vs Sheffield United- Match Preview

This game is crucial for both sides, due to their respective league positions and ambitions for the current season. The game today sees 8th place Peterborough United take on top of the table Sheffield United at the Abax Stadium.

The Posh come into this game after getting back to winning ways in a 3-0 win away at Port Vale. Previously they had suffered, as through the January period they had only picked up 4 points from a possible 15 in the league. That form had somewhat halted Posh's play-off ambitions but the win at Vale has put them within two points off the top 6.

The Blades come in to this game with a mixed bag of form as well, picking up 5 points from their last possible 12 in the league. They will take some confidence though from their last game, picking up the win over AFC Wimbledon at home, in a 4-0 winning effort. As mentioned, Sheffield United are top of the league however they can't afford to slip up with the likes of Scunthorpe United currently 2 points behind.

Peterborough manager Grant McCann seemed optimistic ahead of the Sheffield United test but was also aware of how tough of a game it was going to be.

"They're top of the league, they're the best team in the league at the minute, it's going to be a tough game but one we're looking forward to" -Grant McCann

Blades boss Chris Wilder reflected on the previous victory against the Posh at Brammall lane but noted that the Posh can always be a threat.

"It was a big win, possibly one of the biggest wins of the season for us. We played well but we understood on the day that they had some dangerous players.- Chris Wilder

In a game which is of vital importance to both sides, neither one of them can afford to slip up if they want to realise their ambitions this season.
