Brighton and Hove are twin towns now combined as one city under which the foundations for Brighton and Hove Albion were based around. In 1901 the club we all recognize it by was founded but the name was originally Brighton and Hove United but changed it due to concerns from Hove FC. Albion started off their existence playing in the Southern League, Second Division (which was then at the time rival to the Football League). The following season they achieved promotion to the First Division and seven years later Albion managed to win the First Division.
Brighton and Hove Albion adopted a famous song called "Sussex by the Sea" which they come out to every home game. Not only that, the song was sang by British soldiers in 1914 during the First World War. Between war years the club, had a knack for causing shocks in the FA Cup knocking out the likes of Chelsea, Sheffield United and Everton at the Goldstone Ground which is where they originally played their football.
Skipping ahead to the turn of the century and Brighton found themselves trying to get back to their home in Brighton and the fans sought to fight together to support an application to use The Withdean Stadium, which was primarily an athletics track. The Seagulls found huge success there for their 12 year tenure, achieving promotion and although they also suffered relegation at times they became a mainstay in the Football League. Their rise to the Premier League has been at times a frustrating one, often missing out through the playoffs in recent years and in 2015/16 season they missed out on promotion on the final day after being held to a draw by fellow promotion rivals Middlesbrough who subsequently got promoted along with Burnley. Albion finally achieved promotion the following season and their journey to the Premier League under Chris Hughton (who joined in 2014) was complete.
